Students and alumni alike receive comprehensive support from the Career Management Department which works hand in hand with the school's Career Centres
Our mission is twofold:
The Career Management Department meets graduates looking for jobs or career advice during personal interviews. In 2004-2005, it gave 435 interviews. During these interviews, the graduate is offered career aptitude tests and appraisals. The PerformanSe personality test can be taken at EDHEC directly, while the technical tests (verbal, numerical and abstract) are conducted in partnership with the Hobson consulting agency, and the professional aptitude tests (47 in 2004-2005) with Dialectis.
To be even more effective, the Career Management Department carries out studies to forecast how the principal functions of a firm in sectors like marketing or finance will evolve in two, five or ten years time. We forecast over five years ago the impact of the IFRS on the audit and accountancy sector, for example. Today, we can already predict that within five years, three fluent languages will be a minimum requirement for professional high flyers as well as literacy in terms of IT tools that will greatly exceed basic skills in Microsoft Office!
The second key mission of the Career Management Department is to help firms find the best Edhec student or graduate to fit their specific needs as quickly as possible.
To ensure that the offer corresponds to a company's requirements and to respond to our partner firms and recruitment agencies as quickly as possible, a targeted graduate database has been set up, based on a system of key search words. Thanks to this CV database, the profiles which best correspond to the 10,000 annual requests can be identified and put forward to our partners extremely fast.
In fact, we act in the same way as headhunters, where we ourselves prospect the '(wo)man in a million' that our partner is looking for.
Out of the 9,066 offers received last year, 12.3% were for top executive posts, 42.6% for experienced managers, 34.1% for executives with a first experience and 11% for beginners.
For rapid communication with the students and members of the alumni network, the school and alumni associations have provided the Career Management Department with sophisticated tools.
The first is the website, which gives our students and graduates access to all the latest job offers, market studies, online careers advice, and graduate programmes. Employment push mail sends all the offers which correspond to their profiles to the mail-boxes of the 1800 subscribers, daily.
The ActuCarrières page in the association's weekly e-newsletter is also updated daily, sending all the latest careers news to the members of the network.
Whether they are looking for help in terms of a career appraisal, a new professional opportunity, an MBA course or a move abroad, the alumni can come and see us anytime they have a decision to make regarding their career.
Seminars. In addition to the seminars organized at Edhec, the Career Management Department is closely involved in the majority of seminars dealing with career management, organised by the G16+ schools.
Recruitment fairs. The Career Management Department is an active partner at French and international recruitment fairs, including the Hauts Potentiels fair (in the Palais Brongniart), Careers in Europe in Brussels, Pangloss International in Luxembourg etc.
